The MSN- Meeting Community Needs

The Department of Nursing offers a graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical focus in population-based (advanced public/community health) nursing. Students select a population of focus and are prepared to assume leadership roles in the creation of health care systems which will provide equality of access, high standards of care and caring, and the cost-effective use of resources.

The concentration in Academic Education prepares Nursing Faculty to teach in Nursing Programs at both community college and four-year universities. This program is also appropriate for advanced practice nurses interested in population health education and health education programming.

The concentration in School Nursing meets the California State requirements for the School Nurse Credential. The graduate will concurrently receive the Master of Science in Nursing and the School Nurse Credential.

Graduates who complete the Advanced/Public Community Health Option are prepared to take the national board certification in Advanced Public/Community Helath (ANCC).

*** Courses are offered in a Hybrid Online format with Saturday Face to Face Meetings 2 to 3 times per quarter.
