Lynne Leach,
RN, EdD
Chair of the Nursing
Department
Dr. Leach has over 25 years experience in
nursing education as teaching faculty and in education administration.
She became Chair of the Department of Nursing at CSUSB in August
2006. She previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
and Associate Professor in the College
of Nursing at Seattle
University, Seattle,
WA for over 4
years. Prior to employment by Seattle
University, Lynne was a
fulltime ranked faculty member at Widener University School of Nursing, Chester,
PA for 16
years. Lynne's clinical area is Maternal-Newborn Nursing and
Women's Health; she is also experienced in medical-surgical
nursing. Her research interests include nursing education and
maternal-newborn nursing.
Dr. Leach earned her diploma in
Nursing from Bryn Mawr
Hospital School of Nursing (PA), BS from Millersville University (PA), MS
(Nursing) from University of Delaware (DE), and the Doctor of Education (EdD)
degree in Higher Education Leadership from Widener University (PA).

Mary
Cannon, MSN, APRN, BC
Assistant Director (BRN)
Professor Cannon has a rich background in Nursing Administration and
practice. She has been nationally recognized for excellence in clinical
practice, and has served as an Spokesperson for the National
Public Relations Campaign for the American Nurses Association. She is a
Certified Clinical Specialist in Medical-Surgical Nursing with a Master's
of Science Degree in Nursing (Pediatric Focus). She was formerly Director
of Professional Practice/Patient Services at Bess
Kaiser Medical Center
in Portland, Oregon.

Mikel
W. Hand, Ed.D,
MSN, RN, OCN, CNA, BC
Assistant Professor and MSN Coordinator
Dr. Hand's professional career
spans nearly two decades and is inclusive of clinical practice,
administration, research, and education. His clinical specialization has
been in hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant. Dr. Hand holds
current national certifications as an oncology nurse (OCN) and as a nurse
administrator (CNA,
BC).
Dr. Hand is active in numerous
professional organizations including the Association of California Nurse
Leaders and Sigma Theta Tau
International. Dr. Hand is currently President Elect of the UCLA Gamma Tau
Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau
International and has served as the liaison to the Odyssey regional
planning committee since 2002. In addition, he is currently serving a two
year appointment to the Association of California Nurse Leaders
Environment of Practice committee.
Dr. Hand earned his Ed.D
with specialization in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine
University, Master of Science in Nursing, with specialization in Nursing
Administration from UCLA, his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from
University of Phoenix, and his Associate Degree in Nursing from Wabash
Valley College.
Dr. Hand's current research
interests include alternative graduate nursing education, the application
of clinical simulation within nursing theory courses, and mentorship
within the context of tenure track faculty appointments.
Dr.
Hand teaches courses in medical surgical nursing, theory, transitions,
and research.

Mary Molle, PhD, RN, PHCNS-BC
Professor
Dr. Mary Molle
is a tenured professor with over a decade of teaching and service at Cal
State San Bernardino. Her current focus is Advanced
Community/Public Health Nursing, in which she is Board Certified by the
ANCC. Dr. Molle
also coordinates both the graduate and undergraduate curriculums in
Community/Public Health. She is currently serving on the National
Board of Directors for the Association of Community Health Nurse
Educators (ACHNE) and is actively involved in a number of other
professional organizations including, STTI Rho Beta Chapter (Virginia
Henderson Fellow), APHA (SCPHA chapter), American Holistic Nurses
Association (AHNA), International Association of Human Caring (IAHC) and
ANA. Dr. Molle's
background includes Staff Nursing in Maternal - Child Nursing, and
Independent Practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Toronto,
Ontario, CANADA.
She has been involved in numerous community projects in both San
Bernardino and Riverside
Counties since
coming to the University in 1995.

University of Toronto, Ontario CANADA, and PhD in Relational Psychology
from Trinity College of Graduate Studies in Anaheim,
CA. Research
interests include Holistic Healing in the Nurse-Client relationship,
Faith-Community Nursing, and Nursing Education of diverse students.

Susan
McGee-Stehsel,
MSN, BSN
Assistant
Professor
Professor McGee is teaching Nursing Psych and Leadership courses for the
Department. She has a strong background in the mental health field, both
clinically and administratively. Though her masters is in
Child Mental Health Nursing, she has worked with all ages of the
psychiatric population in acute and chronic settings. She has also worked
extensively in Chemical Dependency Treatment. She has worked in many
community efforts including Collaborator for The Health Start Grant.

Marilyn Stoner, RN, PhD,

Associate Professor
Dr.
Smith Stoner graduated from College of the Desert, Palm
Desert, CA in
1978. She received her BSN and MSN from California State University
Dominguez Hills, Carson,
CA. Dr. S. Stoner
received her PhD in Transformative Learning from the California Institute
of Integral Studies, San
Francisco, CA in
2000. She is an End-of-Life Nursing Educator and focuses on
palliative care in Southern Brazil.
She is active in the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and the
Oncology Nursing Society. Her research interests focus on end-of-life
preferences for members of diverse philosophical and religious beliefs
and the needs of students returning to higher education.

Donna
Rane-Szostak,

Palm Desert Program
Dr. Rane-Szostak has over 25 years
experience as both an educator and Adult and Gerontologic
Nurse Practitioner. She spent several years in joint practice with an
Internist and was also GNP and coordinator of Evaluation and Research at
a large life-care facility in Illinois.
Teaching experience includes responsibility for Graduate level Gerontologic
Nursing at Northern Illinois University (NIU), in Dekalb, IL and
most recently teaching in the post-Master's Adult Nurse Practitioner Program
at North Park University in Chicago, IL She has been a featured speaker
at nursing, medical and pharmacy meetings at both the state and national
levels.
Dr. Rane-Szostak's
BSN & MSN are from Rush University
in Chicago
and her EdD
in Educational Psychology is from NIU. Her clinical research interests
include falls in the elderly, maximizing function in older adults and
loneliness in later life.

Janice Layton, PhD, MN, RN
Professor Emeritus
Dr. Layton led
the Department of Nursing in the development of the undergraduate
program. She is a specialist in Mental Health nursing with over twenty years
experience in teaching nursing.
She retired in September 2000.
